Missing folders and project activity

Locate a moved folder, keep its conversations, and follow work in the sidebar.

Available on: Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, WebUpdated in version 6.75.406

The project picker and sidebar show Folder not found when the owning device confirms that the saved path no longer exists. An offline computer or an access error alone does not confirm that a folder is missing.

Open the folder menu. On a computer, you can also right-click. Remove from list removes the shortcut and keeps the conversations. Where directory selection is available, Locate… lets you select the folder at its new path while keeping the project and its history. Wait for ongoing work to finish before changing the path.

A project missing for seven days with no conversations appears under Archived. This filter also lets you find the history of projects whose shortcut was removed. Archiving a project does not delete its messages.

A ring beside a folder or conversation indicates ongoing work. It remains visible when the group is collapsed and disappears when work finishes; a failure appears in red. Check the Tasks panel for the execution state and its explanation.

On the Web, folder information comes from its owning device. Open Cortex on that device to correct the path. The browser does not directly inspect your local folders.

Context and task completion

The context meter uses the window announced by the model. Usage added across tool calls is not the size of a single input: the latest reported input is measured separately. Without that measurement, tool history uses a local estimate; without an announced window, the percentage is unavailable.

When the response ends with no pending tool, work and typing indicators stop. The Tasks panel shows completion and any verification warnings.
